Dating low selfestem

There is no real reason that they should have a low self esteem...It is the self critique in them that keeps on finding better and better solutions to every single problem they encounter.

It doesn't matter if your acne is mild or more severe, your feelings are valid. Adults are just as likely as teens to feel that acne negatively affects their lives—regardless of how severe their acne is.

This may be because their acne has been longer-lasting or resistant to treatment, or because there is a greater social stigma for adults with acne.

Instead, we think, "…yeah, but I'm not all that great…" and we brush off the compliment. Tutor a classmate who's having trouble, help clean up your neighborhood, participate in a walkathon for a good cause, or volunteer your time in some other way. Being active and fit helps you feel good about yourself. Thoughts like these can set you on a path to low self-esteem because they focus on what's not perfect instead of making the best of what is.

Instead, let yourself absorb a compliment, appreciate it, and take it seriously. When you can see that what you do makes a difference, it builds your positive opinion of yourself, and makes you feel good. Spend time with the people you care about, do the things you love, and focus on what's good.

So if you want to feel better about yourself, try some of these things: Manage your inner critic. Each day, write down three good things about yourself, and/or three things that went well that day because of your action or effort. Some people get held back by their own pressure to be perfect. If you think, "I won't audition for the play because I probably won't get the lead," it's guaranteed that role will go to someone else. Obsessing about our "flaws" can really skew your opinion of yourself and bring down your self-esteem. Train your inner voice to remind you of what you are accomplishing. When self-esteem is low, it's easy to overlook the good things people say about us.

Remind yourself that everyone excels at different things.

The prevalence of myths regarding why acne forms might even lead you to feel a sense of guilt or shame as if you are somehow responsible for your acne (don't worry, you're not).

These feelings can be so strong that they prevent people with acne from doing things they really want to do.

Acne is often thought to be a trivial problem, especially when compared to other diseases.

But some studies have shown that people with acne experienced social, psychological, and emotional ramifications at the same level of those with chronic health problems, like epilepsy, diabetes, and arthritis.

Your family and friends may not fully understand just how acne influences your self-esteem.
